In H1, Ukrainian enterprises increased their losses by 4 times

The war in the eastern Ukraine, the loss of the Russian market and the devaluation of the hryvnia have made ​​almost half of the domestic business unprofitable. According to the State Statistics Service, the proportion of large and medium-sized companies that made a loss in the first half of the year, grew from 43% in the same months of 2013 to 46%, and the amount of their losses increased 4 times - from 73.7 billion hryvnias (71.6 billion hryvnias without the Crimea) to 290 billion hryvnias, the Capital writes.

The greatest loss were made by enterprises that are working in the war zone - in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as in the Dnepropetrovsk region, where enterprises depend significantly on supplies from these two regions. In general, a quarter of the country's loss fell on these three areas. Another half was recorded in the capital, where many companies operating including in the Donbass. Given the fact that companies that have managed to stay in the black, increased their income insignificantly (by 9.5% to 74.5 billion hryvnias), the net loss of the Ukrainian business jumped 37 times, from 5.8 billion hryvnias (4.7 billion hryvnias without the Crimea) to 215.5 billion hryvnias.
