EU restarts negotiations on Turkmen gas imports

​The head of the EU representation in Turkmenistan, D. Daniilidis, says that the Vice-President of the EU Commission for energy, M. Shefchovich, will soon start the negotiations with Turkmenistan on the construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline for the supplies to the Southern Gas Corridor, Reuters writes.

In March the Turkmen chairmen said that they held active negotiations upon gas supplies with the EU. It was about 10-30 bln cubic m of gas a year.

Meanwhile Russian has sharply reduced the gas import from Turkmenistan within the past years. Along with this Turkmenistan annually sips 30-35 bln cubic m of gas to China and the countries plan to double this rate by 2020.

In 2014 Turkmenistan signed a framework agreement with Turkey on gas supplies for TANAP from Shakh-Deniz.
