Shale oil to be produced in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area

A spokesman for “Gazpromneft” A.Vashkevich asserted that a JV of OJSC “Gazpromneft” and Shell will be able to produce about 5 million tons of shale oil a year in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area in the near future.
According to Vashkevich, the resource base of shale oil in Yugra in the undistributed fund may reach 8-10 billion tons, of which 300 million of recoverable oil resources are of target inventory for OJSC “Gazpromneft”.
