EU strategy of Russian gas replacement proves to be insufficiently circumspect
The Kommersant has got acquainted with the strategy for liquefied natural gas, prepared by the European Commission, for which Brussels makes the basic rate in an attempt to get away from gas dependence on Russia. From the point of view of the European Commission, the main problems that must be solved are the construction of infrastructure to eastern members the EU had access to LNG and rational use of natural gas storage facilities. Questions of LNG reliability as a form of the supplies and economic feasibility of its use are not put in the strategy. Meanwhile, there are already examples that LNG may be more expensive for the EU countries than Russian gas.
