Poland intends to import gas only from Germany

The Kommersant has found out where from the history of Poland requested 11 billion cubic meters of gas from the Nord Stream-2 project, against the construction of which the country sharply opposes, appeared. Polish gas transmission operator Gaz System really filled a non-binding bid for such a flow of gas from Germany from 2023. Formally the request is not directly associated with the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, but only this gas pipeline will make the flow possible. The moment of truth for Warsaw will come in the third quarter of 2017, when Gaz System will have to submit a binding bid.

The Kommersant has received clarification from Wintershall about the statement of the company’s head Tiss Tiessen, sounded on June 23, that Poland requested 11 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the future gas pipeline of Nord Stream-2. The words of the top manager caused a surprise, since Warsaw strongly opposed the construction of the pipe.
