Western sanctions can affect the oil production in the Russian Federation by 2018.

The negative effect of the restrictions on the export of the Western technologies in the field of drilling, the development of Arctic deposits and shale reserves may appear in Russia by 2018, when the commissioning of several large fields is planned, Sergei Donskoy, the RF Minister of Natural Resources, informed.

"The negative effect of sanctions in these areas is not so noticeable, but in the long term it may appear - about 2018. The commissioning of several large deposits is scheduled for this period", - the press service of the Ministry quoted the speech of Donskoy at the workshop on the impact of the sanctions on the industry sectors, supervised by the Ministry.

In early September, the US imposed restrictions on the supply or re-export of the goods and services (excluding the financial services), as well as technologies for the projects for exploration and production in deep offshore, Arctic offshore projects and shale oil extraction projects to the five Russian companies, including "Rosneft", "Transneft" and "Gazpromneft".
