Turkey has filed a claim against Gazprom putting in question the price for Russian gas

​Turkey has filed a claim to the Arbitration Court against Gazprom putting in question the price for Russian gas, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, U. Alydji said.

On October 26th the claim was filed concerning gas purchase from Russia from December 2014, he said.

Botas (claimant) said today that such a right is given to Turkey by the conditions of the agreement as of December 29th 2014.

Botas asked a discount from Gazprom export in a written form. As a result of the negotiations an agreement on the reduction of the price and volume of the discount which came into force from December 29th 2014. By the expiration of the planned by the agreement 6-month’s period, on June 29th 2015 Botas didn’t address the Arbitration Court revising the price. However, the necessary documents were not signed.

The official representative of Gazprom, S. Kupriyanov, confirmed that an opportunity of addressing the Arbitration Court is stated in the contract.
