Greece has supported the recovery of South Stream

​Greece agrees with the fact that the South Stream gas pipeline may be construction and support this idea, the Ambassador of Greece in Moscow, danai-Magdalini Kumanaku, said. She reminded that the head of the EU Commission’s representation in Russia, V. Uschatskas, considers possible the renewal of the project. If Brussels thinks so, Greece greets such plans and is ready to go on works with Russia.

The construction of the pipeline in Greece will do favor to the entire economy of the country, and will allow to dversify gas supplies, increase the energy safety, she said. The Ambassador reminded that Greece previously supported South Stream despite of the complaint by a number of EU countries.

Athens considers the Poseidon project to be quite effective which is meant for the supply of the Russian gas to the southern part of Italy via the bottom of the Black Sea, she said.
