Oil production at Kashagan may start in late 2015-early 2016

The start of oil production at Kashagan is expected at the end of 2015 or at the beginning of 2016. Minister of Economy and Budget Planning E.Dosaev said to Financial Times. According to him, the delay of the launch of the project means 0.5% loss of GDP for Kazakhstan this year.

Oil production at Kashagan started on September 11, 2013. But, there was discovered gas leak from the gas pipeline, which goes from “Island D” to the oil and gas processing facility, during the scheduled check. The operation has been suspended. After the repair operation the wells at the Kashagan have been opened and oil production resumed. However, short after, that there were again discovered gas leak. Oil production has been terminated until now.
