Oettinger and Prodan discuss the upcoming trilateral talks on gas in Brussels.

Guenther Oettinger, the EU Energy Commissioner, and Yuriy Prodan, the Minister of Energy and the Coal Industry of the Ukraine, discussed the next tripartite talks on gas over the phone, which will be held on October 29th in Brussels, the European Commission (EC) reported today.

"Today the Vice President Oettinger and the Ukrainian Minister Prodan conducted a consultation by phone. Its purpose was to prepare for the forthcoming Russia-EU-Ukraine tripartite meeting on Wednesday", - the EC informed.

According to TASS, the parties specifically discussed the issues related to the provision of the financial guarantees of the Ukraine to pay for the Russian gas supplies in November and December 2014. At the same time, the European Commission did not confirm whether any agreement on this issue was achieved.
