SOCAR to increase by at least 50 mln cubic m the volume of gas supply to Georgia in winter

SOCAR will increase by at least 50 mln cubic m the volume of gas supply to Georgia in winter, the company reports.

Following Georgia’s addressing upon gas supply to the country, SOCAR held negotiations with the shareholders of the consortium Shakh-Deniz and South-Caucasus pipeline route.

On the results of the negotiations it was agreed to reconsider the restrictions connected with the seasonal gas supply from Shakh-Deniz to Georgia. According to the agreement, gas supply to Georgia will grow by at least 50 mln cubic m.

In 2015 the export of the Azeri gas to Georgia in the framework of the first stage of development of Shakh-Deniz made up 721 mln cubic m (+5.3%).

Currently Azerbaijan is the main gas supplier to Georgia. Gas is shipped from SOCAR’s deposits. Georgia receives gas by the South-Caucasus gas pipeline from Shakh-Deniz.
