Azerbaijan plans to increase gas export to Georgia to 1.5 bln cubic m a year

SOCAR plans to increase gas supply to Georgia from Shakh-Deniz up to 1.5 bln cubic m a year, the head of the company, R. Abdullaev, said.

Azerbaijan will increase gas supply to Georgia from Shakh-Deniz by 500 mln cubic m a year.

Previously up to 800 mln cubic m of gas from Shakh-Deniz were shipped to Georgia.

R. Abdullaev said that there were no technical opportunities to increase the supplies to Georgia.

On the results of negotiations with the consortium SHakh-Deniz it was decided to distribute gas volumes shipped to Georgia in winter and summer at 70/30 percent (previously 60/40%).

In early February R. Abdullaev discussed with the Minister of Energy of Georgia, K. Kaladze, a number of issues on the supply of Azeri gas to Georgia.

The parties agreed to go on negotiations and hold regular meetings.
