Severstal: extraction volumes at Severnaya might recover within a year

​36 people died in the accident at the Severnaya mine in Vorkuta. Experts think in case of successful recovery works the mine might return to a full-scale production within 6-12 months, the company –owner of the mine said.

Severstal admits a full recovery of production at the Severnaya mine after the accident in case of successful works within 6-12 months.

The caving at the Severnaya mine in Vorkuta at the depth of 748 m took place on February 25th. In total 110 people were in the mine at the moment of the accident, 80 of them were evacuated. The reason of the caving could be methane explosion. The third explosion at the mine took place on Sunday night.
