The largest project of Russian copper company to celebrate its first anniversary

Today, the largest project of Russian copper company (RMK), the construction of an ore-dressing and processing enterprise on basis of the Mikheevsk field (the Chelyabinsk region), celebrates its first anniversary. A year ago, the foundation of GOK was laid during the solemn ceremony with participation of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevich; the GOK’s productivity is 18 million tons of ore per year and the output of finished products (copper concentrate) – 270 thousand tons per year.

The Mikheevsk field of porphyry copper ore is one of the largest copper deposits in Russia: it was included into the list of the 50 largest copper fields in the world by the independent analytical consulting group CRU. GOK “Mikheevsky” is the project of the federal importance: in the contemporary history of Russia, it is the most large-scale project on construction of an ore-dressing and processing enterprise “from scratch” in the territory of the former Soviet Union.
