Lukoil is consulting with the Ukraine on the launch of “Karpatyneftechem” plant – Alekperov

Lukoil is consulting with the Ukraine on the renewal of operation of the “Karpatyneftechem” plant, Lukoil’s head, V. Alekperov, said. “I hope the situation will be settled soon”, he said.

“Karpatyneftechem” is the only enterprise in the Ukraine that produces suspensed polyvinyl chloride. It was founded in 2004 on the basis of capacities of “Oriana” enterprise. On the results of 2011 the plant made loss for $120.3 mln. “Karpatyneftechem” shut down works in the autumn 2013 due to the unfavorable situation in the oil chemicals products market.

In April 2013 the Government of the Ukraine and Lukoil signed a memorandum of realization of a number of measures so as the plant would reach a profitable level of production. Lukoil started to recover the output of saleable products in the autumn 2013 but in the winter the plant was again shut down due to the situation in the Ukraine.
