Greece and Azerbaijan renew negotiations about the sale of DESFA

Next week the Government of Greece will renew the negotiations with SOCAR about the sale of the controlling package of the operator o the gas transport system DESFA, the Minister of Production Reform, Environmental Protection and Energy of Greece, P. Scurletis, said.

According to him, the main issue of the discussion will be the stake of participation in DESFA which will be sold to SOCAR.

In early May Bloomberg reported that Greece considered an opportunity of selling 49% in DESFA to SOCAR.

In December 2013 SOCAR won the tender on the sale of 66% in DESFA for EUR 400 mln.

Currently this deal is considered by the directorate of the European Committee for Competition. This procedure will last until the end of the year.
