ExxonMobil freezes its activity at the Russian shelf
The sanctions of the EU and the United States are having an effct on Rosneft as it begins to lose its strategic foreign partners. As the Kommersant has got to know, the American ExxonMobil is freezing its cooperation with the state-owned company on their offshore projects. It couldn’t reach an agreement with the United States authorities to continue working in Russia, even the successful discovery of a field in the Kara Sea didn’t help. Until the end of the sanctions, ExxonMobil’s projects in the Arctic and the Black Seas will be suspended, the company will take at least some of the staff out of Russia. Rosneft promises to wait for the return of its partner.
On Saturday, Rosneft announced the discovery of a field in the Kara Sea. The company found oil, drilled at a well at the Universitetskaya structure, which is located on Vostochnoprinovozemelsk site. The President of Rosneft, Igor Sechin said that, according to preliminary estimates, the resource base made up 338 billion cubic meters of gas and more than 100 million tons of "lovely light oil, which is comparable to the Siberian Light even in the primary results ". The field was officially named Pobeda (Victory). "This is our first victory, and we will have a lot of new victories in the future," - he said in an interview with the Russia 24.
