Gazprom isn’t going to permit Rosneft to use Power of Siberia
Gazprom has denied Rosneft access to the Power of Siberia export pipeline. The company will build and load the pipeline to China itself, and requests tax incentives from the state.
Gazprom considers its gas transportation system as a part of the company's business, aimed at making a profit for its shareholders. This statement was made by the company’s CEO Alexei Miller at the annual meeting of shareholders on Friday.
Miller answered to his main opponent, Rosneft’s president Igor Sechin, with facts, with his own words. Sechin, responded to a question about the possibilities of the improving of the offer to BP-TNK holding company’s minority shareholders about a year ago, said: "The Board of Directors shouldn’t change its decision to help BP-TNK holding company’s shareholders on account of shareholders of Rosneft". And on June 4th during the Presidential FEC Commission Sechin publicly announced his intention to seek opportunities to export the company’s gas through Gazprom’s gas transportation system. He suggested the Russian President Vladimir Putin to establish a consortium that would include independent producers and Gazprom for joint investments and further use of the Power of Siberia, a person, who is familiar with the materials of the Committee’s meeting, previously told the Vedomosti.
