UC Rusal: aluminium deficit in 2014 to reach 1.5 mln tons

UC Rusal has increased its forecast concerning the metal deficit in the world market in 2014 and forecasts a further price growth. The press service of the aluminium company said referring to the first deputy CEO, V. Soloviev.

The aluminium offer in the market, besides China – the largest aluminium producer, might be 1.5 mln tons less than the demand and the deficit will only rise in 2015, V. Soloviev said.

The aluminium consumption in the world in 2013 rose 6% to 51.7 mln tons, and in the markets outside China – by 4% to 26.23 mln tons.

In 2013,UC Rusal produced 3.86 mln tons of aluminium that is about 8% of the aluminium production in the world. The company’s capacities allow it to produce 4.5 mln tons of aluminium.
