Kazatomprom and Toshiba to go into rare metals

 

Kazatomprom Corporation (Kazakhstan) and Toshiba (Japan) have established a joint enterprise for carrying out investigation and the development, production and sale of rare metasl, rare earth products and materials. It was registered on September 21, 2011. The joint enterprise is aimed at the creation of a vertically-integrated company for the manufacture of rare metal and rare earth high value added products. The share of Kazatomprom in a new JV makes up 51%, Toshiba – 49%. The main office of the JV will be located in Astana. It is expected to start its current activity in November 2011.

 

 

The creation of the joint venture with Toshiba on the output of high-tech products on the basis of rare and rare earth metals is an implementation of an order of the president of the republic N.Nazarbaev resulting from an official visit to Japan in June 2008.
