The Ministry of Energy has not taken a common stand on the use of gas from Sakhalin 1

The Ministry of Energy has not taken a common stand on the use of gas from Sakhalin 1, the Minister A. Novak says. The list of variants includes use of this gas by Rosneft for the construction of an LNG plant, or by Gazprom, but the final variant has not been chosen as yet. At first they should complete the commercial negotiations with the gas buyers. When they are completed they’ll better understand the contract terms and the participants.

The project Sakhalin 1 includes development of Chaivo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi deposits development with potential extractable reserves of 307 million tons of oil and 485 billion cubic m of gas. The participants are Exxon Neftegas Ltd with 30%, the operator, Rosneft with 20%, ONGC with 20% and Sodeco with 30%.
