Gazprom named the amount of the debt of Belarus for gas

The debt of the Russian gas consumers in Belarus made up over $200 mln, the deputy chairman of Gazprom, A. Medvedev, said.

The debt of Belarus before “Gazprom transgas Belarus” OJSC exceeded $200 mln. The correction of the cost of the Russian gas sale to Belarus is possible only after the introduction of changes into the intergovernmental agreement of Moscow and Minsk.

Previously Minsk said that it intends to be granted a discount for the Russian gas. According to the Vice-PM of Belarus, V. Semashko, from January 1st 2016 business entities are to be offered a lower price than that of “Gazprom transgas Belarus”.

In May 2016 the first round of negotiations of the Ministers of Energy of Russia, A. Novak, and Belarus, V. Potupchik, took place. The latter drew attention to the fact that Belarus doesn’t ask a discount but insists on the execution of the agreements. He said that Russia had heard the position of Belarus.

The only buyer of Gazprom’s gas in Belarus is its 100% affiliate “Gazprom transgas Belarus”.
