Bashneft might found a consortium with PetroVietnam and Premier Oil

The Russian oil companies keep preparing for the geological exploration tender that will be held in mid April. They all will participate together with the foreign partners. Gazprom and ENI discuss realization of South Stream

Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Plc. Aleksey Miller and General Manager of ENI Paolo Scaroni discussed bilateral cooperation in the framework of their strategic partnership agreement, press service of Gazprom reported. Particularly, Aleksey Miller and Paolo Scaroni discussed the current condition of South Stream project and assessed its realization positively. Third German company obtains a gas discount from Gazprom

A new client of Gazprom in Germany – Verbundnetz Gas (VNG AG) – has gained a gas discount from the monopoly. The company is one of the largest gas suppliers in Eastern Germany and Gazprom holds 10.5% of its shares. However, analysts note, the monopoly remains very selective, thus EU will keep criticizing it for extremely high prices. Read more »

ENI might become a partner of Rosneft

One of the main European partners of Gazprom, the Italian ENI, might start getting into the oil business in Russia. Kommersant has learnt that the company is negotiating with Rosneft on joining the production project at the Shatsky Ridge in the Black Sea. Chevron decided not to participate in this project at the beginning of the year. Rosneft needs it to start working in Libya via ENI, which has a number of assets.

Announcements of European Commissioner on South Stream are groundless

The announcements of the European Commissioner G. Ettinger that South Stream causes problems in the realization of the Southern Corridor on gas supply from Central Asia to Europe by passing Russia are groundless and contradict the earlier position, the deputy chairman of Gazprom A. Gazprom, Eni, EdF and Wintershall have signed shareholders agreement for South Stream

On Friday Gazprom, Eni, EdF and Wintershall have signed the shareholders agreement for South Stream Transport company for realization of South Stream project laying a gas pipeline from Russia to Europe via the Black Seabed. The document was signed at the investment forum in Sochi in presence of the Premier, V. Putin.

European Commission has criticized South Stream

Tomorrow in the presence of the Prime Minister V. Putin, Gazprom is to sign a legally binding agreement of shareholders with the participants of South Stream – ENI, EDF and Wintershall – on their joining the project and the warranties of its launch. But  the document is being prepared under pressure from the part of the  European Union. The European Commissioner G. Gazprom obtained 50% in the JV for the Austrian site of South Stream

Gazprom OAO has entered into its book 50% in the company-operator of South Stream (South Stream AG) registered in Switzerland, the Russian company reports.
The joint project company South Stream AG was registered in Jan 2008. Gazprom and Eni are its founders on the parity basis. In November 2009 Gazprom and EDF signed a memorandum of understanding presupposing the possibility of EDF’s joining the project of construction of the sea part of the gas pipeline South Stream.
