Novatek and CNPC will close transaction on Yamal LNG before December 1

Novatek and CNPC will close transaction on Yamal LNG before December 1st, the chief of Novatek, L. Mikhelson says. At the beginning of September, Novatek and CNPC signed the binding agreement about entrance of CNPC into the Yamal LNG project. The contract for cooperation within the project was closed within the bounds of the St. Petersburg International Eeconomic Forum. The document presupposes the closure of a long-term contract for supplies to China of at least 3 million tons of LNG annually. The contract also binds CNPC to actively participate in attraction of external financing by Chinese financial institutions.

SOCAR may incur obligations on “Shakh Deniz” after 2036

If Azerbaijan does not prolong a contract for the development of the gas condensate deposit “Shakh Deniz” with foreign partners after 2036, SOCAR will incur obligations on gas contracts, the head of the company R.Abdullaev said at the press-conference on Thursday.

French Total still considers Shtokman project as possible, but difficult

The French company Total still considers the Shtokman project as possible, but this project is really difficult in every sense, the Head of Total Upstream Yves-Louis Darricarrere reported in interview to  Kommersant.
According to him, that’s why in March “Total and Gazprom decided to review all the possible technical variants to develop the field and choose the best one”. “When the optimal technical decision is determined, we will together work on its details to implement it in practice,” – Darricarrere noted.

Total is interested in shale oil extraction projects in Russia

The French company Total negotiates on its participation in the development of shale oil fields in Russia, which, according to the USA’s Ministry of Energy are the largest in the world,he Prime reports, referring to the Reuters.
“We are ready to consider any variants – to join projects that are developed by Russian companies, or to buy a field in partnership with any Russian company,” – Total’s Head of Exploration and Production, Yves-Louis Darricarrere said.

Total to expect to increase its share in Novatek to 19.4% in the near future

French Total expects to increase its share in Novatek to 19.4% in the new future.
“Today it is 16% and we have an option for its increase to 19.4%. I hope, soon we will implement this option in full measure,” – the Head of Total Upstream Yves-Louis Darricarrere reported in interview to the Kommersant.

Kashagan will start commercial oil production by the beginning of October 2013

Kashagan will start commercial oil production of 75,000 barrels a day by the beginning of October 2013, the Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan, U. Karabalin says. Maximum daily production can reach 1.5 million barrels. Each partner of the Kashagan consortium transports its oil itself. Those obtaining quotas in CPC transport their oil via CPC, and the traditional export system Atyrau-Samara has some spare volumes. The Chinese direction is opened, and CNPC being one of the partners can use it.

TMK has won the tender for premium pipe products supplies for Yamal LNG

TMK has won the tender for premium pipe products supplies for Yamal LNG JSC. The latter realizes the project for development of the South Tambey deposit located at North-Eastern Yamal. The large-scale project presupposes drilling of 200 wells, construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 16.5 million tons, an international sea port and an airport.

Total transfers proposals on the Shtokman to Gazprom

The French company Total has transferred its proposals on development of the Shtokman gas condensate field to Gazprom, the Deputy Director for Engineering and Construction of Total, Daniel Picard reported during the International Conference on the Arctic shelf development in St. Petersburg.
“This is a very important moment and we discussed it in Gazprom – we must review the (Shtokman field) development concept. And we believe that we have found a reasonable decision, which allows us to develop this field from the point of view of its economics. At present, we submitted our concept to Gazprom to conduct together more a detailed discussion and to find a mutually acceptable solution,” – he said.

Oil production at Kashagan will start in the near future

The chief of KazTransGaz S. Sultangali claims that oil production at Kashagan will start within the near months.
Earlier R. Jones, Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), said at the conference ‘Caspian shelf development’ in Atyrau that oil production at Kashagan would start in 2014, whereas they officially reported before that the date was October 2013.
