Representative office of Shell in Azerbaijan closed

Development of Absheron deposit to start after 2020, Azerbaijan

The development of the Absheron gas condensate deposit in the Azeri sector of the Caspian will start in 2021, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, N. Aliev said.
The discovery of the large gas deposit Abseron was announced in September 2011, on the results of the drilling of an exploratory well. The deposit’s potential reserves make up 350 bln cubic m of gas and 45 mln tons of condensate. The participants of the Absheron project are SOCAR – 40%, Total – 40% and Gaz De France Suez - 20%.
According to Mr. Aliev, the capacities of the Umid and Absheron deposits, perspective structures Shafag-Asiman and Babek form the basis for strengthening of Azerbaijan’s gas potential.

Volume of oil pumped by BTC is close to 2 bln barrels

The volume of oil pumped by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC) is close to 2 bln barrels.
For the last 8 years, 1 bln 984 mln barrels of the Azeri oil have been shipped from the G. Aliev terminal at the port of Ceyhan.
As of July 14th 2014 2,589 tankers have left the port of Ceyhan.
The oil from the block of oil deposits Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli and condensate from the Shakh-Deniz gas condensate deposit in the Azeri sector of the Caspian are transported by the BTC.
After the signing of a new agreement in July 2010, Turkmen oil is also pumped by the pipeline. There is an agreement on the Kazakh oil pumping via the BTC.

Kazakhstan searches for the new oil export sources

Its likely that Kazakhstan will have to search for the new sources of its oil exports to Europe if oil sanctions are applied against Russia, the Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan, U. Karabalin says. Only the CPC laid via Russia transports over 32 million tons of Kazakh oil, and now they analyze new oil export routes for the redirecting of these volumes. The alternative variants are Azerbaijan and Georgia. The way will pass from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan and then to Georgia and to the Black Sea. Another potential variant is withdrawal of the sanctions against Iran, Y. Tsygush, the analyst of the international financial holding FIBO Group says.

Bulgaria to supply gas from Azerbaijan as soon as possible – the Minister.

Construction of the IGB pipeline (Greece- Bulgaria interconnector) will begin in 2015, Dragomir Stoynov, the Minister of Energy and Economy of Bulgaria, stated during the meeting with Natig Aliyev, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan.
ITAR –TASS reports, that Stoynov noted that Bulgaria intends to manage gas supplies from Azerbaijan as soon as possible.

Azerbaijan and Bulgaria to expand cooperation in the energy field.

Bulgaria is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy field, Dragomir Stoynevin, Minister of Energy , Economy and Tourism of Bulgaria, stated during a meeting with Rovnag Abdullayev, the head of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan).
