Kazakhstan hopes to construct plant for production of rolled metal from quality steel

Kazakhstan works out the issue of creating electro-metallurgical enterprise, specialization of which will be production of rolled metal from high-quality and alloy steels. The purpose of the project is to provide the engineering industry with rolled metal products, manufactured in the country.

AutoVAZ increased its stake in the market of Russia

​According to AutoVAZ, the sales of LADA cars in the market of Russia in April 2015 made up 22,859 cars. The stake of AutoVAZ cars in the market rose by 1.1% against April 2014 and made up 18.3%.
In Jan-April 2015 AutoVAZ sold 91,413 cars in Russia. The stake of LADA in the market on the results of Jan-April 2015 made up 18.6%, by 2.3% more than in 2014. LADA Granta stays the leader of sales. The sales in the export markets in Jan-April 2015 made up 12,555 cars, by 7.9% more than in 2014.
AutoVAZ is one of the largest car manufacturers of Europe. Today the capacities allow to produce about 800 thousand cars and spare parts under the brands of Lada, Renault, Nissan, Datsun. From 1970 the plant produced over 28 mln LADA cars.

Interview with Vladimir Lisin:Domestic market to be key for us in the medium-term perspective

One of the richest peope in Russia Vladimir Lisin, whose fortune was $14.1 billion as of 2013 according to the Forbes, staked on metal at the beginning of his career and now owns the Russian steel-smelting giant - Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) with capacity of 15.7 million tons of steel. The second serious interest of Lisin was transport. His holding company Universal Cargo Logistics (UCL Holding) unites stevedore, shipping and railway companies, including the largest operator of railway transportation in Russia – Freight One.
This is difficult time for steel producers – the fall of the demand for steel and the oversupply of industrial capacities led to serious decrease of metal products prices. On the whole, the situation in the economy has forced transport companies to reconsider their plans and postpone IPO's. But the liberalization of the locomotive haulage market inspires operators and their owners with hope.

Russian metallurgists to tighten their belts

The situation in the metallurgy secor – as in ferrous, as well as in nonferrous – is far from optimistic: the era of the runaway growth of Chinese economy is now gone and mining companies around the world have to work in conditions of low prices for their products, decreasing investment programs and the freezing of the exploration of new deposits.
Shortly before the Day of metallurgist, which fell on July 21st this year, Russian representatives of the sector discussed their problems at the meeting in the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s office. Hopes for the state support occurred, but they have found their concrete realization only in the pipe industry – duty-free import of Ukrainian pipes was stopped.
