Petrol prices in Russia keep rising despite fall in of oil price

The price of a litre of petrol in Russia rose to 32 roubles. In Venezuela, which like Russia is a large oil exporter, it is possible to load a full tank for a lower amount. What is going on with fuel in our country? The Government accuses the oil companies in price manipulation. The companies, in their turn, complain about the very high tax burden. While they argue with each other, consumers pay for everything. “Lenta.ru” tried to find out who is to blame for the petrol price rise.

Dangerous forecasts

From time to time experts shock society with their forecast of a petrol price rise. A fair question arises: why in the country which is among the leaders on hydrocarbons production as well as has a strong oil refinery potential it will soon become too expensive to use a car? Each year more and more petrol is produced in Russia. According to Rosstat, in 2013 the oil refinery plants produced 38.8 mln tons of fuel, in 2012 – 38.2 mln tons, in 2011 – 26.8 mln tons. There is no serious deficit in the market, nevertheless, prices are rising.
