Introduction of coal quotas helped state mines to additionally place 500,000 tons of coal

For the improving of the state of affairs in the domestic coal production sector, and for provision of uninterrupted operation of the metallurgy enterprise, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine decided to increase the quotas for coking coal imports in 2013. Under the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and the Coal Industry, the quota for the period until the end of 2013 is increased by 1 million tons from 10.2 million tons to 11.2 million tons. The interdepartmental commission for distribution of the volumes of the quotas for the goods ought to be licenses in 2013, the increase is presupposed by the needs of the domestic metal producers and importance of organization of stable operation of the metal sector.

The fuel department specialists state that introduction of the limits for coking coal imports has played its positive role in the development of the basic sectors of the Ukrainian economy despite the slight growth in consumption of imported coal of the gas group by the metal producers and admission of quotas in June 2013.
