Rare earth metals cluster with investments to the amount of $200 million to be created in Stepnogorsk

In 2013, the volume of commodity production of joint venture SARECO in Stepnogorsk made up 50.6 tons bulk concentrates of rare earth metals; in the first six months of 2014, 20 tons were produced. In the future, a rare earth metals cluster is planned to be created on basis of SARECO with participation of Kazatomprom; a total amount of investments will make up about $200 million. More than 700 new jobs will be created at the enterprise.
SARECO implements the investment project to the amount of 4.4 billion tenges. This is creation of a pilot production of bulk concentrates and individual compounds of rare earth metals with capacity of 1540 tons per year.
