Atyrau refinery starts commissioning and start-up to launch aromatic hydrocarbon complex

The situation on the fuel market in Kazakhstan is getting more difficult every day. Despite the statement that the problem with the fuel shortage will be resolved in October, at the beginning of the month the situation hasn’t changed. There is almost no petrol at the filling stations (20 liters maximum are sold to individuals), and the pertol available, is not of good quality.

It is unprofitable for Kazakh companies to solve problem through imports from Russia - petrol is more expensive in the neighboring country, and state regulators dont allow an increase prices on the local market. But even in this case the import of light oil products from Russia reaches 40% of domestic needs. Such a dependence on the supply of fuel becomes a matter of special attention for the state. Kazakhstan has only one way out of this situation - to increase its own production, which can’t be achieved without the upgrading the existing refining facilities.
