"Norilsk Nickel" creates electrolytic cobalt production in the Arctic.

MMC "Norilsk Nickel" will invest about two billion roubles into the creation of Russia's only industrial production of high-quality and competitive product in the world market - electrolytic cobalt of the highest grades - at the Kola Peninsula, the press service of the company informs.

Electrolytic cobalt is used in the industry, medicine, environment (for example, for the creation of batteries, solar cells). It can also be used for liquefaction of hydrogen storage to create a new generation of lithium batteries. There are prospects for the use of cobalt in the aerospace sector and defense industry, experts of the company state.
