The strategic orientation of the Russian coking coal industry for the export markets in Asia to increase.

Russia aims to increase its coking coal exports, given the decrease in demand for raw materials in the domestic market. In 2013 the consumption of coking coal in the country grew by only 1 million tons - up to 38 million tons. According to the Central Supervisory Control of the Fuel and Energy Sector, coking coal exports increased by 60% and reached 20.535 million tons in 2013. According to the RF Ministry of Energy in 2013 the average FOB export prices decreased by 14.7% - up to $ 99 per ton of coking coal compared to 2012. The supply of coal to the neighboring countries increased by 9.5% - to 5.648 million tons. At the same time, the coal exports to non-CIS countries increased by 94.3% - to 14.887 million tons, while the supply of raw materials to the Asia-Pacific region almost doubled.
