10 coal mines are flooded in the Donetsk region and coal yield fell by 50%

10 coal mines are not dewatered in the Donetsk region, the PR service of the department for development of the basic industrial sectors of the regional administration tells to IA Regnum on sept 12.

They are flooded and cannot be recovered the Oktyabrsk pit and the Mospinskaya mine in Donetsk. The latter was prepared for the closure but continued extraction.

The mines are flooded due to absence of the workers at the coal enterprises. Due to impossibility to provide for the safety of the staff, the Trudovskaya mine is also being flooded in Donetsk. They do not dewater Butovskaya and Yasinovskaya Glubokaya in Makeyevka, Progress and the Volynskoye mining department in Torez, at Yenakiyevskaya and Poltavskaya in Yenakiyevo, and at Ilovayaskaya nearby Shakhtyorsk.

According to the official statistical data, in August 2014, the region reduced coal production by 50%. Coal production is ceased at all at Makeyevugol, Artyomugol, Orjonikidzeugol, Shakhtyorskantracite and Torezantracite due to the armed conflict. They perform the survival actions at their mines with exception for those forcedly flooded. In January – August, coal production reduced by 12% to 21.4 million tons.
