RZD hasn’t been applied to for coal shipment via Russia from Donbass to Kiev but the physical opportunity to ship cargo via the existing overland borders with the Ukraine exists, a representative of RZD said.
The Ukraine lost the majority of its mines due to the conflict in Donbass. The most profitable mines were left at the territory no controlled by Kiev and enterprises controlled by the Ukraine extract not profitable gas coal. Coal shipment is complicated by the damaged infrastructure, in particular, by the railway destroyed by the conflict.
