Kiev doesn’t need African coal

It changes the coal from the South African Republic for Russian.

On the background of the problems with the gas supply Kiev has acknowledged the necessity of the the purchase of additional thermal coal in Russia. The largest part of the Ukraine’s mines are now shut down due to the military action and the replacement supplies from the South African Republic are under question: they have been shut down due to the Government protests of very high prices. The Russian coal companies are ready to increase the export to the Ukraine and it can turn out to be by 1/3 cheaper, analysts say.

The Ukraine will have to purchase the coal of cheap anthracite marks in Russia or in Donbass, the Minister of Energy of the Ukraine, Y. Prodan, said yesterday. When the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Ukraine initiated a case on the wasteful spending of state property while checking the conditions of Ukrinterenergo’s contract (for the state Centrenergo) and Steel Mont Trading trader, serious European traders refused to supply as the shipment or payment might be terminated at any moment at the port. The Prime Minister of the Ukraine, A. Yatsenyuk, also said the country has lost an opportunity to purchase coal from anywhere except Russia and the territory which is now controlled by the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics. The Minister of the Fuel and Energy sector of the Donetsk Republic, A. Granovsky, said that the Republic can’s ship coal “to those who shoot at us”.
