Development of coal basin may start in Chukotka

The First Deputy Governor of Chukotksky Autonomous District Iliya Davidenko has held a meeting, dedicated to development of fields of the Beringovsky coal basin, the press centre of the region’s Administration reported.

Representatives of the Department of Industrial Policy, Construction and Housing and Public Utility Sector, the Administration of Anadyr district, the North-Pacific coal company (STUK), the Chukotka trade company, the Association of Indigenous Peoples of Chukotka, the region’s Duma, the Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision, the Chukotka Road Department and the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage in the Chukotksky Autonomous District took part in the event.

During the meeting the STUK’s General Director Leonid Skoptsov reported the pace of works at the Amaamskaya and Upper-Alkatvaamskaya areas in the Anadyr district of Chukotka.
