Petrol in Russia quickly rises in price

Petrol in Russia rapidly rises in price. In June, producers prices increased by 10.5% on the average. At the same time, in May the fuel price grew only by 1%. The reason for the current situation on the market is the tax manoeuvre, which came into force at the beginning of the year, said the Kommersant FM’s sources.

In June, the petrol prices of producers jumped by 10.5%, the Russian Statistics Service reports. The growth was recorded in 15 regions of the country. The most significant – by more than 17% - occurred in the Omsk region. The increase is particularly noticeable in comparison with May, when the prices grew by only 1%. The main factor of the increase in the gasoline prices is the so-called tax maneuver, says partner of information and consulting company RusEnergy, Mikhail Krutikhin.
"We should remember about the new so-called tax manoeuvre. Oil products for the domestic market will be more expensive and it will be cheaper to export oil abroad. Consumers of the internal market already began to feel it. This will be especially noticeable when gasoline and diesel fuel are delivered not by large vertically integrated companies, but by companies that don’t export at all. They can’t compensate for the tax increase by reducing export duties,"- said Krutikhin".
