Government of Russia to set strict measures on low-quality petrol

By the order of the President the Government has worked out the suggestions on the stiffening of the Government control upon the quality of oil products. For violations the fines might make up 1% of the revenue. According to experts, the suggested measures are not sufficient, as among them the system of control over the storage and transportation of fuel is absent, where the forgery takes place. Meanwhile, by various assessments, each seventh liter of gasoline is fake in the country.

A year ago the President Putin after the meeting with the members of the Government ordered the General Prosecutor’s Office to check the quality of fuel in the country. In 2 weeks after that the General Prosecutor’s Office along with Rosstandart and a number of other control agencies started massive audits of fuel stations, oil refinery plants and oil storage reservoirs. In mid October the interim results were aired and they showed that 3,632 objects had been checked and at 1,483 of them violations had been found. And this is more than 40%.

According to the results of the audit, in 2015, 3,251 fuel stations were checked, which makes up about 15% of all fuel stations in the country, among which 709 fuel stations of oil companies and 2,542 independent fuel stations. 7.1% of violations were found out at the fuel stations of vertically-integrated companies, 23.8% at independent fuel stations. The majority of violations are connected with diesel fuel.
