Fire at Mechel’s mine in Yakutia

Smoke contamination has arisen at the Jebariki-Khaya coal production mine of Yakutugol, a subsidiary of Mechel, due to combustion of the conveyor belt. The fire was liquidated. No casualties appeared. Production at the mine was postponed.

Annual energy coal yield is 400,000 tons a year or 40% of total yield of Yakutugol. Thus, daily yield is 1,000 tons that means that loss from one idle day is 1 million rubles concerning raw material price of 1,000 rubles, ITAR-TASS reports.

The mine produces 2,450 tons of coal a day, so the loss can be even larger, Vedomosti claim.
